WireNexus is currently supporting the UK space sector with the aim of accurately capturing cable harness designs and modernising the design methods being used.
In May this year (2023), we had a request for design assistance from a very high-profile company operating in the UK space sector. They did not have a dedicated electrical design resource they could call upon and the design methods being used were also causing a number of issues.
How is WireNexus supporting this project?
Firstly WireNexus is providing a much-needed dedicated resource to the project for the design of cable harnesses within their system. This allows the core team to focus on the tasks they excel at and not have to manage the design of cable harnesses at the same time. WireNexus has also been instrumental in highlighting areas of the system that are overly complex and providing options to reduce the overall complexity. This has worked incredibly well which is partially due to the excellent collaborative working relationship that has been built with the client and their engineers.
WireNexus is also working to modernise their design process which will not only assist with the current project but also set them up in a way that they can accurately capture their cable harness designs in the future. This is being achieved with the adoption of Zuken E3, WireNexus has a wealth of experience in the Zuken E3 packages and has provided a project structure that provides an easy overall view of their system whilst also capturing all the detail needed to populate wiring outputs. At the start of the project the client was utilising a spreadsheet to capture the cable harness design, this was causing a number of issues with data not being linked and also not providing a clear picture of the overall connectivity. Now that Zuken E3 has been added to the design workflow we’re able to quickly spot any design issues and update the design, as all of the design data is held centrally all changes are rippled through the system which removes the need for manual checking.

On the back of this successful project we’re now working with a second company that designs an accompanying system to our first project, they have seen what can be produced and they’re very keen to adopt the new design process. This will not only allow them to accurately capture their cable harness design but also link it to the other project giving both teams the full picture of their entire system.
